LEARNING TARGET: I will review the EM Waves Learning Targets during today's class

WORDS O' THE DAY:

  • propagation: How light waves move
  • hertz (Hz): a measure of wave frequency in waves/second
  • electromagnetic waves (light waves from radio - gamma)
  • quantum jump
  • energy levels
  • excited (electron) = ("electrons 'jolted' into a higher energy level")
  • rest state (electron) = ("electrons existing on the lowest energy level")

FORMULAE OBJECTUS:

h = Plank's Constant = (6.63 x 10-34 m2kg/s)

c=λυ: The speed of light (c) = wavelength (λ "lamda") x frequency "nu")

E = hυ (The energy in a photon of light is given by Plank's Constant times the frequency of that light

Students please make brief handwritten notes for each learning target.

Now please rank those learning targets in reverse order by writing that number next to each item in your notes (#1 for the target you are MOST UNCOMFORTABLE with and #5 with the learning target you are MOST COMFORTABLE WITH).

SUB: Please do threaten students with chili lime grasshoppers early and often (see container on desk). Students are welcome to take one if they are so inclined.

STUDENTS: Please reveiw unit vocab

STUDENTS: Please now converse with your group and work to answer whatever concerns you have with that learning target. They might overlap with questions your groupmates have or they may not. That's fine either way since you'll be MOST GRACIOUS AND HUMBLE (don't forget chili lime grasshoppers!)
