UNIT 04 - Light & The Electromagnetic Spectrum

EXPECTATIONS: Before we start this unit you should be very comfortable witht he following:

Understand that light is made up of a variety of different types (aside from ROYGBIV)

LEARNING GOALS -- At the conclusion of this unit, I will be able to:

      • list the entire electromagnetic spectrum (as we have defined it) from highest to lowest energy AND from lowest to highest energy

        • give an example of an object that has the same size as a particular wavelength of light

        • match frequencies of the EM spectrum to given values

      • demonstrate understanding that light has both wave and particle properties

      • show how different types of light are important to study various astronomical phenomenon

      • compare and contrast an emission spectrum with an absorbtion spectrum:
