I'll be going to the AP Computer Principles workshop in Bellevue next week (June 26th - 29th) and will post tidbits here after that.

In the meantime, enjoy your next few weeks and don't stress about summer homework and such *quite* yet!

AP Computer Principles is a survey course equivalent to a first semester college course for non-computer science majors.

AP REQUIREMENTS:

Those requirements are designed to:

  • Test your basic programming skills
  • Test your evaluation skills
  • Test your engineering writing skills
  • Test your knowledge of six specific "BIG IDEAS:
      1. Creativity
      2. Abstraction
      3. Data & Information
      4. Algorithms
      5. Programming
      6. The Internet

OUR CURRICULUM:

Our curriculum comes to us from the good folk at Code.Org (a national organization created by industry leaders in Seattle to dedicated to getting more computer science classes in our school)

The curriculum document is HERE (but BE CAREFUL. It can be a bit overwhelming at first... remember, it's MY job to digest that beastie!)
